Relaunched in 1999, Purple Records specialise in archive reissues and unreleased material featuring Deep Purple, members of the band, and related groups and artists. Check out our catalogue for details of current releases, or use the 'history' button for the story of the original label, plus collectors' discography. Available Purple Records and Sonic Zoom CDs can be ordered from the dpas online store.

Sonic Zoom is an offshoot set up to issue 'official bootlegs' of vintage Deep Purple live recordings. Currently most of the first pressings in limited edition digi-paks are sold-out, but titles are being reissued in jewel case editions with new sleeves. More about Sonic Zoom...

A number of Purple Records titles have also been issued in Japan, some in different sleeves. You can find more about these here.

We are pleased to announce that the label is now being distributed  in the UK by Plastic Head. This follows the closure of  our former UK distributor Pinnacle in December 2008. We continue to be distributed by Soulfood for the rest of the world.  Full contact details on our Distribution page.

News : A number of older Purple Record titles have been issued by Airmail Records in Japan, in facsimile card sleeves. These are official but are nothing to do with the new Purple Records, having been licensed by the original copyright owner direct. We would urge people to check carefully as collectors have reported that some of these limited edition titles have been dubbed off vinyl. They also lack any bonus material.

This concert, first issued officially on CD way back in 1995, ha been totally remastered from the original half inch tapes. It is generally regarded as one of the best Mk 4 concerts, with some great performances and over half the Come Taste album tracks included. The two bonus tracks from the original are retained but properly positioned at the end of side two so they do not spoil the running order. It will appear first on the Sonic Zoom label in a limited edition digipak with a faithful reproduction of the old bootleg sleeve. Release is now set for May 2009. More details and sound clips..

A rare official archive recording from Deep Purple Mk 1’s USA debut  in October 1968, opening for Cream on their farewell tour of America  at the Forum in Inglewood, Los Angeles, California. So little evidence of Mk 1’s live act remains that this tape - the  only surviving recording of the first incarnation of Deep Purple on  stage - is of great interest, with the band exhibiting a brash  confidence in front of 16,000 Cream fans. As a support act, Deep  Purple’s set was a little shorter than normal but despite the passing  of over forty years, it’s still an exciting experience. This new  edition replaces PUR 205 Inglewood. .
