Jon
Lord joined WHITESNAKE in 1978 and began work on a solo album
in 1981, utilising musicians from the Whitesnake circle. Jon handled
the keyboards. Guitar duties were shared between Bernie Marsden
and Mick Ralphs. Drums were handled by Ian Paice and Simon Phillips
(with Cozy Powell and Simon Kirke - the latter, like Ralphs, a
member of Bad Company - doing a track each). Neil Murray handled
bass. Half the album was instrumental; for the rest, vocals were
provided by Vicky and Sam Brown, Tony Ashton and Elmer Gantry.
The
LP was released on June 28th 1982: "It shows my slightly schizophrenic
musical personality. I've got a great love for classical and rock
music and I find it very exciting trying to combine the two. Even
as a kid I'd go into a record shop and buy something like the
new Bill Haley single and a Beethoven symphony at the same time."
An
eclectic album, recommended for its variety, it has stood the
test of time well. This edition has three unissued bonus tracks:
an album out-take and two songs for the follow-up, plus a radio
interview. The CD inlay contains a further interview as well as
the story of the album. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary
of the original release, the original cover art was restored in
2002.

I Forget' can be ordered from the dpas
